Therapeutic Photography / Participatory Photography
I offer training on participatory photography for research participants and community projects.
I am passionate about using photography as a tool to give people the opportunity to tell their own stories and realities in a way that resonates with their life experiences. Explore their identities and culture. Create awareness of their experience and context within their community and possibly with wider audiences.
Nowadays, photography is widely known to most of us. We don't need a professional camera or an experienced photographer to create and share our images using our electronic devices. These workshops are inclusive and available for any kind of audience.
But...
Are we able to express our viewpoints and internal worlds the way we want to?
Do we have the opportunity and skills to explore the full potential of photography?
Do we understand the power of image as a communication tool?
I design the training and workshops according to the goals of the project and the participants' context and nature. I take participants on a journey to gain skills to express themselves in creative and innovative ways using photography. At the same time, they learn photographic technics, composition, edition, and captioning skills. All this is done through interactive and experiential exercises. During the workshops, participants can share, build trust, create a sense of belonging, experiment and have fun!
